Welding positioners
Welding positioners and robotic welding positioners hold the part, or move the robot, so the weld stays in position. Rice Automation builds and tests them for a robotic welding cell. The positioners below are the ones we quote.
What a welding positioner does
A welding positioner puts the joint where the robot can reach it and keeps that joint in position while the arc is on. Some turn the part. A robot travel track moves the robot along a long weldment instead.
Rice Automation builds these for robotic welding cells. The arm in the cell is a new robot or a refurbished FANUC robot.

Headstock and tailstock
A headstock/tailstock positioner supports the part at both ends and rotates it. Use it when the part is long enough to need a support at each end.
A two-axis positioner turns the part on two axes so the joint stays in position. A robot indexer carries the robot on an indexing base and rotates it between weld stations, so one station can be loaded while the robot welds at another.

Robot travel track
A robot travel track carries the welding robot along the part. It is the choice when the weldment is too long to bring to a fixed robot. Travel length is part of the quote.
